Son confesses in court to beheading mother with axe in Hellevoetsluis
(DORDRECHT) 31-year-old Jesse R. has confessed to beheading his mother with an axe in Hellevoetsluis (province of South Holland) on April 16. The woman's head, along with the axe, was found in a bag in the car in which the suspect was arrested. An initial preliminary hearing was held in the Dordrecht court on Monday. According to the public prosecutor, the suspect was likely experiencing a psychotic episode when he killed his 63-year-old mother. R. must still be examined at the Pieter Baan Center.
The woman's body was found in her home on April 16 by a friend. He had seen the son flee, which led to R. becoming a suspect. He was arrested shortly afterward in his mother's car on the A4 highway near Schiedam.
According to attorney Job Knoester, his client had been a mental health professional for some time. The attorney says that R. is slowly beginning to understand what he did. "He finds that terrible," says Knoester.
The defense attorney would like to hear a therapist as a witness who spoke to R. shortly before his crime. According to Knoester, the woman can give an idea of the state his client was in at the time. The suspect wrote on his LinkedIn page over a year ago that he was manic depressive.
The next hearing in this case is on October 21st. This will also be a preliminary hearing. Due to the long waiting list, R. is not expected to be able to be examined at the Pieter Baan Center until November. The man will remain in custody for the time being.

The British media outlet points out that this is the first time an English team has won a major trophy on foreign soil. Wiegman's team previously won the 2022 European Championship on home soil. The men's World Cup victory of 1966 came at Wembley.
Before the final in Switzerland, Wiegman was already the first coach to reach five consecutive European and World Cup finals. With her third title under her belt—one with the Netherlands and two with England—she can count on a constant stream of compliments.
The Guardian even calls Wiegman "the undisputed queen of coaching." The Daily Mail is also full of praise: "Wiegman is the most successful manager in English football history and she clearly deserves all the praise, and more."
